Timesheet Auto-Fill for BambooHR

A third-party Chrome extension that auto-fills your BambooHR time-clock entries from a saved weekly schedule — with a single click.

Third-Party Tool — Not affiliated with BambooHR LLC. "BambooHR" is a registered trademark of Bamboo HR LLC. This extension is an independent tool developed by a third party and is not created, endorsed, sponsored, or approved by Bamboo HR LLC in any way.

About Timesheet Auto-Fill

Independent third-party tool. This extension is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Bamboo HR LLC. All interactions with BambooHR are made directly from your browser using your existing authenticated session — no data passes through any server other than BambooHR's own servers.

Timesheet Auto-Fill saves your standard weekly work schedule (morning/afternoon blocks, a separate Friday afternoon block, skip dates) and lets you preview and submit entries from the extension popup. The "Auto-Fill" and "Delete" buttons in the BambooHR timesheet header open the popup, where you can also preview and delete existing clock entries for the current pay period.

Saved schedule

Define your Mon–Thu and Friday time blocks once. The extension remembers them and generates entries for any date range.

Skip dates

Tag individual dates to skip (bank holidays, days off) using a tag-chip calendar picker. Weekends are excluded automatically.

Preview before submit

A preview modal shows every generated entry, the number of days and entries, and total hours before submission. Cancel the preview or confirm submission. How auto-fill works →

Timesheet header buttons

The "Auto-Fill" and "Delete" buttons in BambooHR's timesheet header open the extension popup for previewing, submitting, or deleting entries.

Preview before delete

Review existing clock entries for the current pay period, grouped by date with start and end times. Delete them only after confirming Delete All. How deletion works →

No external servers

All requests go directly from your browser to BambooHR using your authenticated session. Nothing passes through any third-party server.

Conflict detection

If entries already exist for a date, the extension reports a 409 conflict instead of silently duplicating data.

Installation & Setup

Add to Chrome (free)

Opens Chrome Web Store — no account required to install

Step 1: Install from the Chrome Web Store

Search for Timesheet Auto-Fill for BambooHR in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome. No restart required.

Step 2: Configure your schedule

Click the extension icon in the Chrome toolbar to open the popup. Fill in:

Field Details
Date Range Start and end date for the period you want to fill, both included. Resets to the current calendar month whenever the popup opens.
Mon–Thu Schedule Morning and Afternoon time blocks applied to Monday through Thursday. The Morning block also applies to Fridays.
Friday Schedule A separate Afternoon block used on Fridays, together with the shared Morning block. Start and end times are required; add Friday dates to Skip Dates to exclude them from a date-range fill.
Skip Dates Click + Add date and pick any individual days to exclude (bank holidays, PTO). Weekends are always excluded automatically.
Single Date Preview Enable this option and choose a Date to Preview to generate entries for one weekday. In this mode, Date Range and Skip Dates do not filter the preview.

Step 3: Fill your timesheet

Follow Auto-Fill Timesheet Entries below to review generated entries and confirm submission.

Important: Employee ID detection

Open your own timesheet page while logged into BambooHR. When submitting entries, the extension obtains your Employee ID from your authenticated BambooHR session.

Removing the extension

Go to chrome://extensions, find Timesheet Auto-Fill for BambooHR, and click Remove. All locally stored schedule data is deleted with the extension.

Auto-Fill Timesheet Entries

Generate clock entries from your saved weekly schedule for a date range or a single weekday, review them, and confirm submission to BambooHR.

  1. Open your own BambooHR timesheet while logged in.
  2. Click the green Auto-Fill button in the timesheet header to open the extension popup, or open it from the extension icon.
  3. Set Start Date and End Date, including both boundary dates, and enter your Morning, Afternoon, and Friday Afternoon times.
  4. Add holidays or days off to Skip Dates. For a single weekday instead, enable Single Date Preview and choose a Date to Preview.
  5. Click Preview Timesheet. The extension validates your settings, saves them locally, and opens the Timesheet Preview dialog.
  6. Review each date's start and end times, plus the total days, entries, and hours. Click Cancel to close the preview without submitting, or Confirm & Submit to send the displayed entries to BambooHR.
  7. After the success message, reload the BambooHR page to see the entries.

How entries are generated

Day Entries generated
Monday–Thursday Two clock entries: the configured Morning block and Afternoon block.
Friday Two clock entries: the same Morning block and the separate Friday Afternoon block.
Saturday–Sunday No entries. Weekends are excluded in both date-range and single-date mode.

In date-range mode, any date listed in Skip Dates is excluded. To skip a Friday, add that date to Skip Dates; leaving the Friday times blank prevents the preview from opening.

Single Date Preview

When enabled, only the chosen Date to Preview is used. The Date Range and Skip Dates settings are ignored, so even a weekday listed in Skip Dates will be included. Friday uses its separate afternoon block. This mode also allows submission through Confirm & Submit.

Saved settings

Schedule times, skip dates, and single-date preferences are saved when you click Preview Timesheet after validation, even if you later cancel the preview. Each time the popup opens, Date Range resets to the current calendar month. Saved skip dates are restored only within the calendar month in which they were saved; they reset when the month changes.

Validation and empty previews

Date-range mode requires both dates, with Start Date on or before End Date. Single-date mode requires a Date to Preview. All Morning, Afternoon, and Friday Afternoon start and end times are required in either mode, even if the chosen dates do not include a Friday. Each block must start before it ends, and the morning and afternoon blocks must not overlap.

If the range contains only weekends or skipped dates, the extension displays "No entries generated. Check your dates and Skip Dates." A weekend in single-date mode displays "Weekend dates are excluded."

Existing entries and submission errors

The preview is generated from your schedule; it does not check existing BambooHR entries or automatically skip duplicates. If BambooHR returns a 409 conflict, the extension reports that some entries already exist. Add those dates to Skip Dates in date-range mode, or review and remove the existing entries before trying again. See Delete Timesheet Entries for the current-pay-period deletion flow.

If the extension cannot read the page's authentication token, reload the BambooHR page and try again. Other submission failures are shown in an error message. If the build has expired, update the extension before using auto-fill.

Delete Timesheet Entries

Use this feature to remove existing clock entries from the current pay period, for example before submitting a corrected schedule.

  1. Open your BambooHR timesheet for the current pay period while logged in.
  2. Click the Delete button in the timesheet header to open the extension popup, or open it from the extension icon.
  3. Click Preview Delete in the popup. After loading a preview, this button is labelled Delete Entries.
  4. Review the Delete Timesheet Entries dialog. It shows the current pay period's clock entries grouped by date, with their start and end times and the total number of entries to be deleted.
  5. Click Cancel to close the preview without deleting anything, or Delete All to permanently delete every entry listed.
  6. After the success message, reload the BambooHR page to see the changes.
Deletion applies to the entire preview. The popup's Date Range, Skip Dates, and Single Date Preview settings apply to auto-fill only; they do not filter deletion. There is no option to select individual entries in the delete preview. Review all listed entries before confirming Delete All.

Current pay period only

Deletion is supported only for the current pay period. If BambooHR returns a different pay period, the extension stops with the message "You can only delete entries for the current pay period."

No entries to delete

If no clock entries are returned, the preview displays an empty-state message and Delete All is disabled.

Permissions Requested and Why

The extension requests only the minimum permissions required to provide its functionality.

Permission User-facing feature Why narrower is not viable
storage Saves your schedule (time blocks, skip dates, date range) to chrome.storage.local so it persists across sessions. Without this, every setting resets when the popup closes. There is no narrower scope for per-extension local storage.
activeTab Helps the popup access a BambooHR tab when you preview, submit, or delete timesheet entries. The broader tabs permission is not requested; BambooHR host permissions provide access to matching tabs.
scripting Reads the CSRF token from BambooHR's page JavaScript (window.CSRF_TOKEN) and runs requests in the BambooHR tab to submit entries, load the delete preview, and delete confirmed entries. CSRF tokens live in the page's JavaScript context. A content script in an isolated world cannot access them directly; chrome.scripting.executeScript with world: "MAIN" is required.
host_permissions:
https://*.bamboohr.com/*
Injects the "Auto-Fill" and "Delete" buttons into the BambooHR timesheet header and reads, submits, or deletes time-clock entries using your authenticated session. Content scripts and same-origin fetch both require matching host permissions. Narrower path patterns are not supported by Chrome's content script syntax.
host_permissions:
https://cloudflare.com/*
Fetches accurate server time from Cloudflare's public CDN trace endpoint so that date range validation is based on a reliable clock rather than solely on the device's local system clock. The device clock can be incorrect or skewed. Using a public network time source ensures the date range inputs and schedule calculations are validated against accurate time. No personal data is sent — the request carries no identifying information.
No external servers involved. This extension does not use analytics, advertising, tracking, or any server of its own. All API calls go directly from your browser to BambooHR using your existing authenticated session.

Overview

Timesheet Auto-Fill for BambooHR is an independent third-party Chrome Extension. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Bamboo HR LLC. "BambooHR" is a registered trademark of Bamboo HR LLC and is used here solely to describe the service this extension is compatible with.

This policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and what — if anything — leaves your browser.

Data Stored Locally

The following values are saved to chrome.storage.local on your device only. They are never transmitted to any server operated by this extension or any third party:

No personal information, no passwords, no BambooHR credentials, and no session tokens are stored by this extension.

Data Accessed and Sent for Deletion

When you preview deletion, the extension reads the pay-period identifier from the BambooHR page and fetches that timesheet. It checks that the returned timesheet is the current pay period and uses clock-entry IDs, dates, start times, and end times to prepare the preview. This preview is held temporarily in the popup and is not saved to local storage.

Only after you click Delete All does the extension send the listed clock-entry IDs in a DELETE request to your BambooHR tenant's /timesheet/clock/entries endpoint, with the page's CSRF token and your existing authenticated session. The request goes directly to BambooHR.

Data Not Collected

Timesheet Auto-Fill does not collect, transmit, or store:

Third-Party Services

This extension contacts two external services:

No analytics, advertising, AI, or any other third-party service is used.

Data Deletion

To delete clock entries stored in BambooHR, follow Delete Timesheet Entries. Removing the extension does not delete any timesheet entries stored in BambooHR.

Remove the extension from Chrome to delete all locally stored schedule data. You can also clear storage via chrome://extensions → Timesheet Auto-Fill → Clear storage.
